On September 30, Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear was received by the Chairman of Acerinox, Mr. Rafael Naranjo, the CEO, Mr. Bernardo Velazquez and the rest of the management team.
During the meeting, Gov. Beshear and Acerinox leaders discussed the performance of the Kentucky North American Stainless (NAS) plant, energy policies, and future investments.
The visit took place as part of Gov. Beshear’s economic development trip to several European countries to showcase Kentucky’s business-friendly climate and to strengthen existing ties with European companies which operate facilities in Kentucky.
Gov. Beshear’s request to meet with Acerinox in Madrid illustrates the excellent relationship between the government of Kentucky and Acerinox since 1990, when the Spanish producer of stainless steel decided to invest in Kentucky.
With an investment of more than USD 2 billion, NAS is the largest Spanish industrial investment in the United States, and is the leading producer of the North American market as well as one of the most competitive in the world.
