Acerinox highlighted in the seminar "Business and Investment Opportunities in Malaysia", that the advantages of this country as a strategic place to settle in the Southeast Asian market place.
The company has a great factory in Johor Bahru (Bahru Stainless), near the separation strait between Malaysia and Singapur, it is one of the main geographic points of maritime traffic in the world. Meanwhile, thanks to Acerinox, Malaysia has become an export country of stainless steel.
Acerinox president, MR. Rafael Miranda, as well as the CEO, Mr. Bernardo Velázquez, and the future CEO of Bahru, Mr. Oswald Wolfe, pointed out the skills that Malaysia possesses in terms of attracting foreign investment during a meeting with the press, on behalf of the Asian country, the minister for International Trade and Industry, Dato Sri Mustapa Mohamed, and the Malasyan embassor in Spain, Mr. Kennedy Jawan. Representing the Spanish government, Mr Jaime García Legaz, State Secretary of Business, and the general director of Investment, Antonio José Fernández Martos.
Acerinox also wanted to mention the importance of the Malaysian institution MIDA (Malaysian Investment Development Authority), the center of relationships with foreign investors, which was pointed out as a “friendly hand” and which received gratitud due their advice on investing, legal matters and different strategic and economic circumstances despite analyzing the characteristics of the ASEAN market due to their comercial interest.
The built –in factory that Acerinox is creating in Malaysia (Bahru Stainless) will have a production capacity of 1.000.000 tones . In this factory Acerinox has already created more than 430 jobs and 12 Spanish companies have collaborated with the factory.
