Bernardo Velázquez (CEO of Acerinox) receives from SMR the 'Executive of the Year' award in his sector

The CEO of Acerinox, Bernardo Velázquez, received the "Stainless Steel Executive of the Year 2021“ award granted by SMR, a consulting firm specialized in the steel sector. Velázquez received the recognition from the Managing Director of SMR, Markus Moll, during the International stainless steel and special steel conference held in Como, Italy.

Since 2007, SMR awards this title to an outstanding personality who meets strict criteria. The award's electing committee consists of seven high-ranking personalities, including some past award winners. It is an award to executives of the stainless steel industry that in past years has been recognizing the work of professionals of various nationalities (Japanese, Taiwanese or American, among others).

As the organization highlighted, this edition has awarded “a man who has dedicated 100% of his professional life to stainless steel and a company: Acerinox”, which has more than 8,000 employees in 11 plants in four continents that sells its products in more than 90 countries through the most extensive international distribution network in the sector.

Velázquez expressed his gratitude for this recognition explaining that “it is a pride to receive this award from the hands of those who know in depth what we do at Acerinox and how we do it, and it is an honor that this recognition comes from such a prestigious consulting firm in the sector as SMR. I only represent the work of a great team that makes our company a reference for efficiency, quality and service ”.

Acerinox is the only company that has collected the award twice. The current Honorary Chairman of Acerinox, Victoriano Muñoz, was awarded in the first edition (2007).
